To answer the obvious concern about this turning into /pol/, observe how /rnb/ hasn't completely turned into /r9k/. I have faith that we shall continue to maintain 7chan's distinctive culture through its unique institutions. On a certain level that's what civics itself is about: learning about the ins and outs that make your institutions what they are so you can more fully participate in them with more valuable contributions.

And at least YouTube embedding isn't enabled.

YouTube is where civil discourse goes to die. In a pit of fire. And pop-tarts.

I agree; why wasn't there a /777/ trial period? /trump/ is no longer relevant (unless the admin wants to open a /prez/).

>>2
>observe how /rnb/ hasn't completely turned into /r9k/
The only similarity between the two is their first initial; this is not a sound basis for comparison.

>>3
>YouTube is where civil discourse goes to die
I thought that was Yahoo Answers, where all discourse goes to die.

/hi/ is supposed to cover cultural stuff anyway, just direct people there

we don't need a dead containment board

Yahoo is pretty much a wasteland of endlessly repeated conspiracy theories and hopelessly stupid people writing responses to amazingly stupid people's questions (and sometimes all of the above).

I think the idea is that if you want to talk politics or bitch about how big Hillary's vagina is, you come here, and don't clutter up the rest of 7chan with pointless bullshit.

mmmmmmmmm agreed

youre digging your own grave. those people r worse than you know and youre welcoming them in by establishing this board. b wouldn't be covered in pol shit if youd do your fucking job and bam the samefag who shitposts "current events", replys to every post with a youtube link, and has literally 0 relevant content ever.

I don't think we really have the problem this board is intended to solve. I've never felt that /b/ was overwhelmingly flooded with political threads. Furthermore, given the generally strawberried nature of political discussions on 7chan, /b/ is a much more appropriate place for such pissing contests.

inb4 /civ/ is only ever used to discuss the pointlessness of /civ/

Anonymous 16/11/12(Sat)08:55 No. 12 ID: df6334

If it's used only for that, it's still a good thing. You wouldn't want complaints about /civ/ shitting up the other boards.

/b/ was never good, but moments of greatness can seem to poke through to the impressionable minds that feel as though they're connecting with strangers around the world and rebelling against their mundane meatspace reality.

You could just make a /pol/ and keep it. They're very successful boards on other chans.

Yeah but they also A: Get infested with right wingers and then B: Because of sed infestation of right wing trolls and imbiciles Left wingers split off and demand their own pol.

Then you end up with two echo chambers.
Look at what happened to 8ch.

Pol is literally Nazis and leftpol is literally Commies.

This isn't 8ch. This is 7chan, where the mods will ban you because it's funny. If anyone cries about how their favorite mass murderer isn't loved enough then they can eat shit.

technically speaking you still can. it's not like there ever was any gurantee that your posts won't be baleted and you wouldn't be banned for any or no reason at all to begin with. at least we've been told what to expect for once; 7chan's mods are not often so generous.

he's right. why have yet another containment board when there's nothing to contain? what's with 7chan's obsession of spreading shit so thin when there's barely any shit to spread?

I just went on /hi/ and it's full of threads that should be in /civ/ or /phi/ instead. If this is an attempt at creating "unique institutions" for the sake of it as per >>2 then it's a classic case of delusional escalation of commitment, aka "I don't need to do anything about it because the community will figure it out themselves like they have in the past amirite guise?"

>I like it

Nobody wants to go on /phi/ because the mentally ill postbot will drag the conversation to atheism or aliens or another pushbutton for his mental illness because those are the only things he'll talk about. Although he won't ever respond directly to you. He'll just make a post and then respond to his own posts over and over.

they ban you for promoting pedophilia (Leviticus 21; it is confirmed in the Bible as a demand and law to marry children) but they let feds post pictures of children whoring themselves all day
