I support the second amendment rights of all US citizens, and this is somehow unpopular.

1. I interact with quite a few people in a major urban area, so I doubt all of them are gun owners.
2. Not everyone that owns a gun advertises it, so how would you even know if you were interacting with a gun owner?
3. Lol just look >>907 >>913 same political twitter critic, same Trump talk... How can you possibly think your thoughts and opinions are your own?

You do realize that there's more than one person in this world who disagrees with your extremist viewpoints, right? Or do you think Dave follows you from site to site disagreeing with you everywhere?

Also, twitter images? As proof of being the same person? You clearly don't socialize much. Evidence of this is the fact that you don't have any idea how people would ever know if coworkers own guns. Some of us can hold down steady employment for more than 6 months.

Besides finding out someone's a gun owner is like finding out if someone's a vegan. They can't help but fall over themselves talking about how much they love it.

Just because the images make you cry and pout and claim nobody can think for themselves except you, they don't mean anything you've written, you're just the average overentitled gun nut dickwad.

I'm not saying it's the same poster. It's the same guy in both images, you belligerent twat. The fact that it is two different posters saying essentially the same thing with the same "expert" quoted in both images is kinda my point.

Also, you thinking everyone acts the same about their interests says more about your social interaction than it does of mine.

>I left the presidential ballot blank
So you did not vote at all. You realize your incomplete ballot may not even have been counted for the things you did mark? Yes, that can happen; there are all sorts of ways for ballots to get thrown out.

There were more than two choices. You could have made a choice. Not voting is the reason everything sucks. Always make a choice, even if it's not the best one, choose something.

We have to get out of this polarized paradigm. Our options are not binary. Inb4ridiculeofthirdparties. If you want a third party with a serious platform and serious candidates, you have to get involved in one.

The reason everything sucks is the polarized paradigm that has been building in this country since 1964, in the form of increasing presidential power.

I agree.

The office of the president didn't just acquire power though, it was allowed to acquire power. I blame this on a sycophantic Congress, driven to undermine the system of checks and balances in order to keep the two major parties in power, and large number of potential voters who do not exercise their constitutional rights.

The way things are now, there will never be a 3/4ths referendum to amend the constitution for any purpose. The people are incapable of exercising what the founding fathers would have considered one of the most essential checks and balances in the constitution. Furthermore, the system of checks and balances itself is completely defunct due to partisan politics--it was not intended that the president would have a supporting, majority party in the Congress so that both could ignore their constitutional responsibilities; it was certainly not intended that the supreme court would be a partisan playing field.

The United States is wrecked, and the only way to fix it is to wake up the vast majority of people who don't give a shit and make them give a shit.

Yeah, congress fucked up with the Gulf of Tokin Resolution giving the president power to finance a war no one wanted. Since then it's been a fiasco of exceeding authority on the part of the president.

That being said, I don't think the constitution really needs any amending.

He's referring to Jules Suzdaltsev, who is cited for >>907's quote and whose tweet is shown in >>913.

In his anti-common-sense fervor, he's mistaken these posts as treating Suzdaltsev, who is a journalist, as some sort of "expert".

Suzdaltsev is not an expert on guns or politics, and--as far as I know (never heard of him before this thread)--he doesn't purport to be. His comments are pretty funny though. I think he's just trying to use humor to soften the blow of truth.

You know what I think this thread could really use? A little perspective. Take a trip to a country where gun ownership isn't a right. See if you find yourself feeling oppressed by the government there or in danger of your life by gun-toting criminals.

I say this as a man from the South who was given his first gun when he was 11 and has been a gun owner ever since.
>inb4noonegivesashithurfdurf

Modern gun ownership arguments are just the best. Let's review

>muh rights
Your rights are not divinely inspired. They come from a sheet of paper. And at times that sheet of paper has been amended. At other times the interpretation of the rights within that sheet of paper have changed. But the whole acting like God himself said you could sleep with your AR-15 at night is pure fucking fantasy.

>I have to protect my family
This I agree with. I grew up in a small town where if you called the police it would be a 20 minute wait. If someone is in your house that's too long. I've pulled a gun on a home intruder. But the best you'd ever need is a .38 pistol or a shotgun. The reason that anyone would own a virtual arsenal is because you want to. And before you say you say you need that AR-15 to defend your family, you don't. It's dark, you're half asleep and half scared shitless. If you need 30 .223 Remington rounds you're a bigger danger to your family than the intruder. Also enjoy overpenetrating everything and sending bullets throughout your house considering .223 goes through sheetrock like a wet paper bag.

>my gun defend my freedom against gummint tyranny
I have a friend who spent 30 years as an infantry officer. He once said to me, "If those idiots want to rise up against the government let them. Give me one mechanized infantry battalion and I'll wipe them all out within weeks." He's right. Imagine facing down one M2 Bradley or even just one fucking fireteam and any objective observation would be that you are completely outmatched. Even if you do take out a few guys they'll just call in artillery or air support. Then no more you.

But none of that matters. Three devoutly Christian, upstanding members of their community, upper middle class white men could wipe out 500 preschoolers live on national television while screaming, "The 2nd Amendment made me do this!" and every Conservative would immediately chant, "But muh rights" in unison and the NRA and their GOP powerbottoms would release a press statement would say that they did it because their babysitter never hugged them and nothing would change.

An education, I hope. The rest of the world calls your way of thinking "American exceptionalism"; and everyone knows it's bullshit. The United States has not been the first or last country to do anything it has ever done as a nation.

It didn't invent Republic; it's not the only nation formed by revolution; it's only one of many nations that purport to recognize human rights while distinguishing some who may and some who may not have them; it has just as much history of imperialism, oppression, and oligarchy as any major country ever had; it has just as much class divide and poverty as anywhere else and a heck of a lot more murder than anywhere else, as well as the highest incarcerated population of any country on Earth.

What's so special about the United States? How retarded people like you who think it's special are, and the right to own a weapon far more powerful than you can be expected to use responsibly. Special indeed.

You are. By holding conservative views you are statistically more likely to be pulled into a bullshit narrative. There's peer reviewed studies of the lead up to the 2016 election and the bullshit sites created during it to back this statement up, but of course you won't read (or accept) them because they would challenge your preconceived agenda.

In short, networks of thousands of fake sites were created by people in foreign nations intended to serve fake content to Americans in order to serve up clicks and ads, which netted the foreign people revenue based on that traffic. It was shown that conservatives were far more likely to visit those sites, that solely consisted of fake content, than liberals.

But yeah, I'm sure because you recently discovered War & Peace that you're an incredible anti-intellectual who never would possibly fall for that.
