If he lived through the holocaust as a kid he has to be like 80 now...one ripped 80 year old...Either marvel has to dump the origin story or kill this guy in the next few years.

You know that they'll never kill him. If they do, they'll pull some time singularity or resurrection shit out of their asses.

I got it, he learned how to control the iron in his blood to boost his metabolism and gain the ability to stop ageing.

It makes sense in Marvelverse logic.
>> No. 8411
Ive read enough marvel comics to have to come the realization that all marvel characters age either:
1. backwards (ie. once they hit 40 continuity is reset and theyre a teen again)
2. in a progressive loop (ie. Everytime there is a writer/artist change the character is drawn to appear a bit younger or more vitalic but maintains continutiy)
3. indefinitely (ie. marvel pulls some comsmic/mutant crap out of their ass that essential makes the character immortal, until they feel like killing and resurrecting them)

DC and pretty much any mainstream cash cow comic is guilty of the same shit.

Cerebus ftw

Still, it would be nice if they showed his age a bit, or at least explained his insane muscles. The guy looks like he lives in the gym!

Comicswise: He was reduced to the physical shape of a baby and was re-aged to an adult. Somewhere in between he must have lost a few years.

But all in all: What BadNewsBear said.

didn't magneto loose his powers in the third movie? why would they continue to make comics about him?

Because the movies aren't fucking canon with the comics.

Cyclops died in that shitty movie, yet he's still alive and kicking in the marvelverse.
The reason: movies are based on comics, almost never vice-versa. If you can find an exclusion to this rule then its a guaranteed piece of shit.

AvP comics were around for quite some time before the movies...the games came after them, THEN the movies
>> No. 8448
>>8446

No, the comics were based off of the separate films then AvP (the film) is based off the comic of the same name.

Same for Robocop Vs Terminator, the comic is based off of two separate films.

Problem solved.

Have magneto pull some final world destruction/domination plot. Make said plot a really stretched out and epic story arch spanning several series(to suck more money from people) then have him die at the end.

Garunteed to sell a shitton of comics and solves the original problem.

Speaking of magneto how old is spiderman now?

why can't you all just accept that most comics choose to not have their characters move forward through time at the same rate that they get published but still choose to update the world around them rather than have every comic be taking place in the 80's or something.

The same thing is done with James Bond and Living dead movies

So wait, they just killed the two most beloved mutants in the marvel universe in one foul swoop? They just keep writing themselves into holes like this!
>>8673
How the hell is Magneto able to use other mutants powers?!
>> No. 8907
>>8904
The original explanation was that his body absorbs sunlight and transfers it into eye beams. Now its something about his eyes being dimensional gateways powered by his constant absorption of ambient energies. That means he wouldn't be affected since the backlash would just go back into whatever dimension is just filled with red concussive lasers. He also has mutant trigonometry power!

actually i'm pretty sure every different person who plays bond is supposed to represent a different agent playing the agent code named "james bond, 007"

i'm not positive but i think i read that when i was younger and it's what i've always believed as there is no mention of his wife for any bonds after the movie she is killed in, and why daniel craig has to get his 00 license even tho it is modern times.
>> No. 9106

>> No. 9497

That's crap, or why would subsequent Bonds still have the dead wife hangup? The only sensible explanation is that James Bond is a Time Lord.

Marvel has repeatedly explained this as a sliding timeline. The problem is, characters like Magneto and Xavier (among a few others with no possibility of extending their lives) are historically attached to a specific date, or rough dates in the past. Magneto, obviously, is stuck to WWII, while through association, so is Xavier. Characters like Spider-Man and Iron Man can mostly ignore specific dates in their origins and history (obviously anything that brings up famous events can be dismissed as non-canon), but Magneto is one of those characters that can't be explained away by a sliding timeline. Some that get away with the specific date issue include Captain America who was an adult in WWII, but he got frozen and reanimated "10 years ago" or whatever they want to say in that issue. Wolverine, due to his powers, is effectively immortal. Namor is truly immortal. Another explanation that has been tossed out is that each storyline exists in its own continuity so that WWII in modern comics happened only, say, 20 years ago.

actually he was reborn as a child back in the sixties if i remember correctly. Also, he has tried multiple times to make himself young again. it would be easy enough for him to succeed once.

He's a comic book character. Comic book characters don't exist, hence they don't age.

The solution to this is simple, but for some reason none of the big names want to do it. Give up on continuity. Dont even try. Establish characters, and then let each writer/artist do as they wish with them. If one storlyine kills them off, so what, its just a character not a continuity that you have to worry about maintaining. Think Dracula or Frankenstein. If you read a story containing them you wouldnt give a flying fuck if they cut their heads off, burned the bodies and crapped on the ashes. Nobodys gonna scream "OMG, Dey dun killified Dracula!", because its accepted that hes a character to be used freely for storytelling with no continuity to worry about. Killing characters is a powerful storytelling tool, and to hinder writers with continuity concerns makes their writing sub-par.
I think one of the real problems that lead to discussions like this is that some characters have just been used up, or that staff writers have just run out of ideas. I stopped reading spider-man for instance years ago after one of his many "reboots". The reboot itself wasnt what bothered me, although its insanely stupid to try and reboot a character in one title and try to maintain continuity in another (Im looking at you "Amazing Spider-man", I dont care how many issues you've had, its time to hang it up, what bothered me was that there was no new material. Revenge of the sinister six...again? get real. Calling for a reboot and then raping old storylines and trying to pass it off as "for a younger generation of readers" is stupid and lazy.
There are still good writers out there, give them more free reign and well have more gems like the ruins series and what if?. Keep going as is and get more stinkers like "No mans land"
I waited a year for that shit DC! and all he gets its a fucking bullet in the knee? FUCK YOU!
