I'm trying to make a pair of LEDs flash on and off- while on is on the other is off and vice-versa. I'm also trying to keep it simple, and I don't want to use a LM741 IC to invert the output for one of the other LEDs, but that's all I can com up with.

Any ideas on a simpler method of inversion or is the IC my best bet?

Shitty webcam pic related: project using a 555 IC and LM741 to invert the output.

Alright, I've got this- but no inversion... I'm using 5v from my USB port and a 50ohm resistor, on a 3904 NPN transistor. Pic related.

disregard that- my switch was faulty... Except now I'm out of 555's to redo this shit. Oh well, thanks a million.

You have no idea how that works do you? DX is just one of MANY reasons why a win32 game will not run on a mac.

Sup /g/

I've been running Arch for about a week now. It runs great, I love it, etc; however, I've been running it in pure terminal mode. Now, the neckbeard geek in me doesn't want to put a DE on it, however, the practical side of me says otherwise. Could /g/ recommend me a lightweight, small DE?

Hey /g/,
I'm teaching myself microcontrollers and circuitry by building a 32 button, 8 axis USB HID game controller. I can wrap my head around how each part works, but I'm not confident about how to wire them with the microcontroller.

Am I right to believe that every digital button connects to an I/O port and to the ground pin on the microcontroller?

Should the Power and ground pins on each potentiometer connect to the respective USB lines or will these be connected to the microcontroller?

Also does anything special I need to do or be wary of while connecting multiple wires to the same ground pin? What about the Power line?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

All I could find on potentiometers doesn't show where the ground and voltage lines go, but it shows the data line going to the microcontroller, not sure where they connect, but it doesn't seem to be on the chip.

Unfortunetely I need to know where those 2 lines connect.

Is there somewhere I could better get the information that I need?
>> No. 1943
I'd think that if you're using a potentiometer, the middle pin would connect to power and one of the outside pins would connect to your input pin and the other would just be the inverse of the resistance value you're getting on the first pin, so wire it up to another input or your ballsack for all it matters.

I just desoldiered the IC off a logitech mouse, I'm trying to figure out what to do with it... Any ideas?

Say for instance I have a lot of top secret personal stuff (Captain Planet) on flash memory and the card goes bad and will not read anymore. I want to send it in for a warranty, but want to make sure that no record exists of what was stored on it. How do I ensure this?
>> No. 1913
You could TRY hitting with a magnet. If you can see the card in windows, format it using a dumbass file system that the manufacturer won't be able to recognize(ext2, ffs, reiser3, etc.)

lol hes right , if you cant use the card you have no way of being certain your sick hobby has been erased and you couldnt possibly have an expensive enough flash card to make it worth it

Hey guys, I've got an old box I want to turn into a lite web server, instead of having my gaming pc on all day. I need it to run apache, php, mysql and ftp. It has a 700 mhz cpu, and 384 MB of ram. Which distro of linux do you suggest? I got sick of googling and finding nothing that really convinced me.

CentOS or Debian. Anyone that suggests an os that comes with a graphical desktop is an idiot.

SSH is the only method of remote administration you need.

Just a few moments ago, a thought struck me.

Could you not take a laser mouse apart, and somehow make a pen like contraption from the parts?
Think laser pen as a substitute to a tablet.
What does /g/ think?

I've tried the wii remote as a pointer. it'd be good if it weren't so sensitive. makes it hard to use for anything other than just goofing around...
>> No. 1871
I spent a couple of months on stuff like this: stuck an IRLED into a pen and aimed my wiimote at it. It worked pretty well aside from the fact that I made it with a lot of ducttape, and that yes, every time I tried to click (I put a momentary switch across a 100 ohm resistor so that it changed brightness when the button was pressed, which GlovePIE mapped to the left mouse button.) it would jump several pixels over.

As for OP, it'd be difficult, but I think it would be possible, as long as you used a wide tip and soft buttons so it doesn't jump.

FUCK, now I want to try making this... I don't have any spare optical mice though, looks like I'm gonna have to start stealin' computer parts.

I've never had to do this before, so I come to you, /g/.
I just did a fresh install of XP on my parents computer, I'm trying to connect it to the already established wireless network in my house. I believe I installed the correct drivers for the wireless card, and that's the only network that appears, no WLAN., I remember helping a friend set up a vpn and I think the connection was at least listed with a red X, so I could just right click>properties and let it obtain the ip and dns automatically. I really have no idea where to start with this, any help would be appreciated.

always do what this man says first, I've been able to solve lots of problems simply because the device wasn't recognized by windows yet.

Dear /g/!

Is there a computer chassi that is superior to Antec 190 and equal in price or equal in quality but cheaper in price? Please tell, because I'm going to build myself a SUPARCMOPUTARR!

Oh, and sales text + specs:

Introducing the P190, a case that stands apart from all others. Bigger and better than the rest, the P190 has room to handle even the biggest hardware; ExtendedATX,multiple graphics cards, dual CPU?s, and liquid-cooling are all no problem for the P190.
Powering all your hardware in this case is the unique Neo-Link dual power supply system. A dual setup of two individual power supplies linked together to give you a total of 1200 Watts of power. There are dual top mounted 140mm exhaust fans, a rear 120mm fan and a 200mm "Big Boy" fan mounted in the side door; all 3-speed TriCool fans and ideal for cooling even the hottest new technology. You won?t have to worry about the noise coming from your hardware either, as the P190 is built with Quiet Computing in mind, featuring silicone grommets for the hard drive mounts and special dual layer sound deadening side panels. All these features and more make the P190 the most advanced performance case yet.

Front Fan - 1 x 120mm Lower Chamber Fan
Rear Fan - 1 x 120mm TriCool Fan
Top Fan - 2x 140mm TriCool Fans
Side Fan - 200mm Big Boy Fan with Air Filter

Yeah, but it still applies, right? If two fans of different size move air at a uniform rate, then the bigger fan does generally the best job, since it's more likely that it won't create those annoying whining sounds, right?

Why not go for perfection when it's possible?

Thanks! I'll check it out.
