Do these things actually work and if so how's your experience with them? I have to 8 gig laptop ram sticks I want to put in my motherboard.

They should work. I mean why else would anyone make them?

Yes, and there's no change in performance. The RAM will function the same as it did in the laptop with regards to speed and performance.

Just be aware that Laptop ram is generally smaller/slower in capacity and are typically unregistered/lack ECC (all sacrificed for form factor). What this means is you can't go filling your system with multiple sticks of laptop ram.... you'll run into issues.

And don't go mixing sticks, you shouldn't do it anyway and I'd hate to think what happens when you mix DIMMS and SODIMMS.

Basically you can use it as a replacement for your existing RAM not as a booster.

If they're engineered right they'll work but keep in mind your RAM is typically run in matched pairs so the two DIMMs that make up the same bank of RAM need to be identical in every way. If you have a SO-DIMM of a make/model then you need that same make/model in the same make/model adapter for the other DIMM slot.

You can end up with clearance issues as well, many DIMM slots are close to the CPU so heatsinks can have a maximum height for the slots it hangs over. And remember the matched pairs - usually the pairs are offset by one slot, so you can't fill up the ones further out with tall SO-DIMM adapters and the ones closer in with normal DIMMs because then you'll usually end up with DIMM & SO-DIMM in the same bank.

If you were building a system and already had SO-DIMMs, maybe.

Otherwise, no, just buy RAM.

Clearance could be an issue, DIMM slots are typically very close to the CPU now and all but the weakest of air cooled HSFs will overhang the slots.

That works different since you need to find a way to thrive when it comes to your works and that is what i can say is a great job to deal with you have to be better and do a great job on your works since you know that there are a lot of people.

they work fine, don't expect to run 4 with no issues. I've taken 4GB DDR2 sodimm's and paired them up with old 775 itx boards.
