Just before the downtime, a text translation was provided for this, and it was asked that somebody edit it into the images.

I'm trying a style that incorporates the grayscale textures into the colored fill so that the original print feel is not lost.

couldn't you just use a color fill (like Photoshop's paint can) at less than 100% opacity? That's generally what I do.

I might layer a colored fill under a textured colored layer if I can't get it right just playing with the contrast. I'm not in this for output speed.

But back to the cat ear flu, all the test tube jockeys of Anonymous need to whip out them petri dishes and make it happen. DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN.

Hey! Thanks for addingthe text to the pictures. It looks good!

BTW the easiest way to add colour to a comic like this without losing the comic feel is to use layers. Make the original artwork the background and then add a multiply layer over that. Colour as normal, the multiply setting means that the lines will show through without being affected by the overlayed colours on the upper layer.
Good Luck!

Just a note, Multiply tends to make things darker when used. A better option to use would be Overlay. As the name implies, it blends the color over top of the layers below. Multiply is better for shadows and shading.

Darken/Lighten = Linear shading
Multiply/Screen = Quadratic shading

If anyone has more n-friendly Japanese comics they would like translated please start a new thread and upload it in full. Try to keep it short because this is a busy time of year!

I want two variants of this virus, a flu that gives neko-traits and a flu that makes people into traps like Watarase Jun.

I ended up using an effect filter that basically turned the white end of the grayscale into transparent. It should be easy to work with now. I've already processed all 15 pages in this way, and I'll start with the color soon.
