I am currently struggling to get paid by the BESC, but I don't think it has anything to do with them being tight for cash. I submitted my story and was told it would probably be accepted, then I heard nothing for six months. They published it then without telling me- I had to hear it from someone else completely. Then I had to badger them about getting paid, and they faffed about with it (still keeping me in the dark as to what they were doing or why it's taking so long), and finally sent me an e-mail saying "Here's your contract, mail or fax it to us."... without any contract file attached.

The administration are either incredibly apathetic or incompetent. This is the only conclusion I can draw from my dealings with them.
