I don't know where else to post this.
So recenty I been having a rush for what was like to surf the internet 10 years ago when things were not so centralized.
There was always something new and different right after the next corner and every new place had new people.
I haven't felt that feeling of novelty when you stumbled upon a new resource, flash game, webcomic and so on in a long time, it was always different.

The internet is no longer the wild frontier it used to be and all the pioneers have disappeared.

Have you tried stuff like Tor? It isn't exactly the same--nothing ever can be--but it can get you closer to that feeling than most things on the surfaceweb.

I used to be a regular use of tor up until las year, I grew bored of so much CP and stoners.
Have things changed since then?

I'm kinda embarrased to say this, but I'm a newfag. A huge one. I want to know more about Internet's history and happenings. Internet forums, social networks, Marianas, you name it. Can you tell me in any way you can how was Internet back then, how much you know about the issue and share some experiences? This faggot would be pleased if you do so, OP.

How young are you? Are you from a country that has a low migration to the internet?

Well years ago internet was much more decentralized and web pages were ment to be like libraries instead of magazines, so instead of having the subreddit for X, the chan board for X you had lots of small but cozy fansites and forums that were focused on archiving stuff to be consulted and shared instead of keeping people up with news.
And because it was decentralized every webpage was a new experience because back then every one was a web designer and even if the sites were small very little stuff had been digitalized or could be shared online so each site had something unique to see.

I apologise for necroing a 2 year old thread but I felt like chiming in. I'm not keen on imageboards and this is my first and most likely last post on this website.
The internet is still a wonderful place, you might have just gotten complacent. You're no longer a child, you can no longer afford to spend hours upon hours hopping from link to link. The passion is still there, for as long as the web is free then creativity is not yet dead. Just because there are major sprawling cities doesn't negate the possibility of finding a small town in the outskirts of nowhere, you just have to be dedicated in your pilgrimage. Hell, that's why I'm here right now, spending my afternoon one hyperlink at a time.

There are tor search engines that search through the onions. The principle of JFGI still holds even outside of literal Google.
