Gekokujo is a pretty sweet and from what I understand accurate recreation of feudal Japan. It's got some great fortress designs and new weapons, but removes shields. My big issue with this one is that there are just too many clans, and even on the lowest difficulty its hard to get anywhere, alongside the annoyance of seeing "This clan has declared war on this clan." and "The trade agreement between these two clans has been reduced." However the largescale politics and battles might be right up your alley.

I personally use Floris' modpack. It's pretty faithful to the basegame and adds a ton of shit. A lot more items and features including an extended upgrade tree for your soldiers, and expansions to the politics system. I've heard complaints that for all it adds the game gains very little, and it doesn't change enough, but that's kind of what I like about it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

My goto strategy for almost every battle is to have about a 40/60 ratio of Rhodok crossbowmen and Nordic huskarls and have them hold on a hill. I tell the crossbowmen to get closer together and take 10 paces back. This way your archers can take potshots behind a badass ax throwing shield wall, and still remain useful when the fight gets upclose by shooting over their shoulders. I usually skirt around on my horse with a two-hander bapping archers that are keeping their distance from the front lines. When my horse goes down I had behind my Nords with a bow because I'm a pussy.

Also, cavalry can be really useful if you have a small squad of them follow you when your charging a flank, or if you want to cavalry archers. I tend to avoid using mounted units because they don't know how to escape mobs of enemies, and they can't follow zig zag patterns nearly well enough to make them effective when the enemy forces scatter out of a unified front. They're also poor at siege gameplay where Nords and Rhodoks excel.

The Star Wars Conquest is one mod that is actually quite a bit of fun, though I look forward to expansion on it.

Games now a days tend to suck a lot of ass.
I cannot believe how over hyped and fucked off the market is now a days. I bet we are going through another bubble and the game industry is about to crash again.

I find this shit in the picture more enguaging and interesting than that trash Destiny.

Or I find Castilvania more interesting than Destiny.

What the fuck is happing /vg/ ?

The sound-effects! (listen to the rifle!!! and the pick-up-sounds!)
the voxels make it look more meaty

I have very fond memories of participating in the Quake beta program. So many exploitable bugs, so many frustrated coworkers who didn't understand the bugs, and a very annoyed John Carmack at E3 when we first met and he realized I was the cause of all those error logs being submitted.

We had Doom multiplayer games, but by the time Quake was in beta my employer had tripled in size and everyone jumped on my private beta server during the mid-afternoon blahs...

If you enjoy Brutal Doom you'd probably enjoy Project Brutality, it's an expansion on the core concept of Brutal Doom. It adds new weapons and has redesigns on the returning ones, and it adds new enemies as well as sub-classes of those enemies, like zombie sergeants with SWAT shields. If you go to Brutal Doom for the sheer excess, PB outshines in that regard.

/int/craft 300BC is launching on the 23th of September
* IP Address: intcraft.online
* Server Version: 1.8.8 (any client from 1.8, 1.9 or 1.10 can join the server.)
* Chien's World Map cropped to Eurasia
* Towny, Brewery, meme recipes, word filter and more..

RP and General Rules
Contrary to previous iterations we will now state the actual rules for the server in a clear way, pre-launch. In theory, as always, there is only one rule: Don’t be a shitter. If you follow this set of rules, you are thereby not a shitter and you are in theory allowed to do what you want on Intcraft, and it will be up to the server population and community to put an end to their own disputes.

Towny War Flag will only be enabled from Friday-Sunday, from Monday-Thursday it will be disabled. PvP will always be enabled.
First 24 hours after launch will have War Flag disabled

So we've had this IRC channel for setting up internet games for ages now but I'm such a lazy jerk and afraid of not introducing it in just the right way that I never make threads for it.

Check it out sometime if you wanna play some games with your fellow 7chan pals:

Emulated video game netplay is of particular interest to us but we play plenty of games native to other platforms too.

The channel or the whole network? 7chan IRC's been having some trouble lately where it sometimes takes extra long or an extra try to connect to network for some reason. I can't think what else your problem might be, our channel isn't hidden or anything like that.

this plus best ending you have to kill everyone you both love and hate, first with the people you hate then slowly onto people you love more till you get to your parents then after he blood sacrifices himself to Hitler and then proceeds to be Satan's right hand man in a war against heaven and hell on pluto. In this case, hell will actually be the good guys and god the bad guys, this is cause Satan gave up trolling humanity and wants to live with his demons alone and in peace, but God won't let him cause he doesn't want to become useless as the modern world slowly progresses and as science replaces religion.

Figured I'd start a thread for them since they're starting to be a sub-genre of action games.

I have two so far. The first is Shrouded in Sanity, available on Steam for $8 US.

Here's my rundown.

- Takes influence from Bloodborne and Castlevania in its theme and atmosphere. There's a small hint of Lovecraft in there too.
- Just as challenging, still just as fair. It's possible to complete the game without leveling up.
- Can edit the save file to make the game even more challenging. Or piss easy.
- Sanity is a gameplay mechanic that's tied into how many times you die and how much you level up. It makes the game more interesting and challenging as you improve your stats.
- Gameplay time is about 4-8 hours depending on your skill and play style. For the price, that's pretty good.

The second game I found is Salt and Sanctuary. This one lies more on the Demon's Souls edge of things. Rather than the 2.5D style of Shrouded in Sanity, it's strictly a 2D action game with platforming elements. Available on Steam, PS4, and PS Vita for $18 US.

Of the two games here, I'd recommend this one over the former. It's more polished, and it doesn't run on Game Maker's engine.

- Wide variety of items and equipment.
- Tight controls.
- Character customization, though it's not that diverse.
- Great ways to level up your character. The stat screen is remarkably diverse.
- Great bosses, each one a little more unique than the last.
- Fair challenge.
- Small easter eggs in the background. Ex: Those people on the gallows are other players who died.

Discoverability, marketing, and Steam in the modern games market 15/12/11(Fri)05:24 No. 144415 ID: d51918 [Reply]

File 144980786741.jpg - (19.58KB , 604x361 , nihilist.jpg )

This show is hosted by three small time game developers.

The most recent episode was way more business oriented than their program usually is, and touches on a lot of aspects of their experiences with marketing and discoverability (from the point of view of a small developer). It brought up a lot of subjects that I, as a customer, don't get to hear talked about very much, and wanted to bring the conversation topic to a wider audience.

They start off talking about personal anecdotes of times when they discovered a game, and how, and slowly begin to circle into a dissection of the current state of affairs.

I thought it was pretty interesting, and I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts and personal experiences. You can skip to 8:20 If you want to skip the opening banter and get to the questions.

Listening to it is not really necessary to contribute to this discussion, though.

I want to pose to you the same questions they posed to each other, and I'm interested in hearing your answers:

What is the last game that surprised you?

Yeah, there's a reason they're called potato crisps instead of potato chips.
