Don't mind the troll, 7chan isn't a great place for asking serious questions. Are you looking for a knife with a total length of 4" or a blade length of 4"? The knife I have has a 4" blade for 8" total unfolded, which is cartoonishly huge for just a pocket knife.

Spyderco Caly3, carbon fiber model is made with ZDP189, standard model is made with VG-10. I'd be amazed if you could break either.

You should get a fixed blade for hard use though.

70 dollars??? FFS how about 10 dollars? Go to an outdoor fleamarket or a garage sale and look. This is why I think most knife purchases are a joke. I bought me a 200+ dollar knife. Its so purdy I got it in a display case. Seriously though, if I can find a Leatherman challenger for 20 dollars you can find something to use as a beater for a lot less than 70.

Agreed. Shopping online you'd need at least 80 bucks for a really durable knife, but go to flea-markets, co-ops, swap-meets, and surplus stores and you can find some deals. I'd be careful shopping at fleamarkets though, a lot of people there will claim to be selling brand-name knives for unbelievably low prices, but once you buy one you'll realize it's a fake and it'll fall apart within weeks- so you may want to learn about knives and teach yourself how to spot quality.

op here,
i ended up deciding on a kershaw lahar
3.5 inch vg-10 steel and g-10 handles
and for only 60, awsome
also to the 10 dollar knife guy, enjoy your 3 dollar wally world knife and your hi-point

Hurr durr. You guys must go to the dealers inside to buy your knifes like moths to a flame. I don't care if you cant hunt for this shit outside, more for me. Eventually you're going to be hard up for money and I'll buy your knifes for a fraction of what you paid for them.

Not bad, OP, I would have gone with Spyderco but I've never had a Kershaw fail on me either.

I like my Ka-bar Mule. Wouldn’t say it keeps a razor-sharp edge, but it is thick like a motherfucker for only a 3½-incher.

I would take a look at SOG. I have had a 4 inch lock blade for close to 15 years. Thick blade and takes a great edge. I would only be careful of the rubberized grips as I have had an issue with one side coming off.

SOG's folders are sub-par honestly. I often recommend the Seal Pup Elite for general outdoors use however.

They also have fantastic multitools. Their PowerLock is tied with the Skeletool for my favorite multitool.
