Colt (b.1836 - d.201_) Anonymous 10/07/17(Sat)13:18 No. 9927

I've heard things recently about Colt's Manufacturing Company that leaves me to believe they are about to go out of business. From what I hear they have about 6 people working in the custom shop because they want to try focusing on government contract work only. But recently Colt Defense's M240b contract was overruled. Its possible we are seeing the last years of Colt. For some time now all SAA's were made in Colts custom shop. If you were wanting to custom order one now you couldn't unless you had connections.

If the age old weapons manufacturer does take the swan dive; it'll be sad to see it go.

Naw, not really. Anything decent that came out of colt has been adopted and improved by superior weapon manufacturers. Considering the bullshit colt regularly create due to false advertising and inferior products, I'll be glad to see them go.

I don't really care about their military arms division. I just hate to see a 130+ year old firearm and old world craftsmanship die do to corporate apathy.

Only now FN USA is making almost as many rifles as colt is. I believe all M16 A3 and A4 rifles are made at the FN factory, if not a large number of the M4 carbines.

Probably making it the mattel product with the lowest fatality rate amongst users (and that's assuming your father was an exceptional shot with it.)

Old joke. Mattel supplied the plastic in the new "toy" M-16 at the time.

Mine said VERO BEACH, FL on it. Dunno how that affects this conversation at all.
