What's your EDC knife?

mine's an opinel. I know it's not tacticool or costs >$200 and made of some super steel, but it does what I need it to.

>>
Sarah Palin 12/04/27(Fri)23:13 No. 14039

damn, how do you keep your blade so clean even after the handle is completely worn off?
my opinels usually are stained like hell after like 3 uses.

well, first off, it's from wikipedia. second, what type of steel do you have? the carbon or stainless? third, do you oil your blades? you should keep a film of something like mineral oil to prevent corrosion. lastly, what do you mean the handle's worn off? how rough are you treating it, man?

I don't know what EDC means, but i'm going to assume the first two letters stand for "every day." So this is my every day use knife, it's a Kershaw Volt II, and i love it. Sharp, keeps the edge, opens quick as shit. Just a great knife, and only about 45 dollars.

I already posted this pic in another thread so a link has to do: https://7chan.org/w/src/132606894383.jpg
I carry this one in all the military exercises and -courses that I participate in (the Zippo is there for size comparison), someone said it looks like a kitchen knife, but IMO the looks are the least important thing in any tool and/or weapon, this one, "Guerrilla/scout knife M95", doubles as an utility knife and an axe, it's sharp, and as you can see its blade is mostly covered with a black layering, the blade itself is carbon steel.

Opinel No.8 carbon steel- stains are part of their charme.

Ladybug H1. Steel never rusts. I left it out in the rain over night. Nothing. Not a speck. I love that knife.

My EDC is a cheap knife, in case I lose it or break it.
Kershaw Chill. About $15 US from Amazon.
Very sharp, does the job, and clips out of the way inside my pocket.

Billy+Ocean 12/05/16(Wed)04:50 No. 14076

It varies a lot for me. I usually carry a spyderco military or benchmade bedlam but sometimes I'll carry a coldsteel large espada or rajah 2.I've only carried the xl espada a couple times because it's takes the whole pocket and can be uncomfortable.

Gerber Harsey Air Ranger Knife

Blade is about 3 1/4 inches, partially serrated. got it free from my buddy, he didn't want it anymore because the clip was missing and the tip got chipped. I don't care about the clip but the chipped tip it a little annoying, but i keep it sharp and clean, and it works for what i need it to.

Carried a CRKT M16 Tanto for a few mothns then the two little hex-screws int the handle came undone and now it's almost useless as a knife and is 100% useless as an EDC.

Which sucks because it had a kick-ass assist-open with no spring and a cool locking system. Too bad it fell apart.

Have you sent a note to CRKT? They'd probably repair it or send you a replacement.

This is mine, as of now. Out of the four knives I've bought with Wartech stamped on them, only one is a piece of shit, and that's only because I lost a screw to it. I've been using the brand for seven or eight years now. They may not be the best knives out there, and they may need sharpening every now and then, and they may not be able to cut through a tank... but for a knife that cost me ten dollars and lasts me four years, it's good enough for me.

>cold steel spike
fucking great at everything and incredibly sharp. I use it as an eating knife and a tool. Also, it is essentially a spike and perfect for wma knife fighting
>gerber evo
decent spear pointed knife
good steel quality
some horizontal blade movement, but i've yet to find a folder that doesn't
out of the two, i prefer the spike, but it is a fixed blade so illegal unless its OC or i'm out in the everglades

I've been swapping different knives for EDC. Right now I'm using the Rough Rider knockoff of the Case Trapperlock. It's actually a decent knife for the price. I've carried Douk Douks and Mercators and like how flat they are. I bought a SOG Slim-Jim XL which is nice and flat, but I don't really like it that much. I'm thinking of picking up a new Victorinox 1H Sentinal. I had one before and liked it, but sold it on Ebay. I also usually carry a little SAK Rambler on my keychain.

Spyderco Matriarch 2.

Paid like $80 with shipping. Before that I used an Emerson CQC-7BW, but that got lost. Before that, I had a Spyderco Paramilitary. Still have that one.

Those are pretty much the only companies I go to when looking for knives.

i find the bear grylls gerber straight edge to be a fine knife. i didnt think it would be, but it has a heavy durable construction. my only complaint is the sheath. it has two metal tabs at the top of the sheath that blunt the knive if drawn carelessly.

File 137160258577.jpg - (7.34KB , 225x168 , zingSS.jpg )

Kershaw Zing SS. Bought it a month ago because my older CRKT Millenium was getting worn on the liner lock (push with any force and the lock would disengage) and my Spyderco was a pain in the ass to sharpen, being fully serrated.

It holds an edge well, feels solidly screwed together, and with the exception of two instances where it came partially open in my pocket, the assisted opening has been nearly faultless.

Sarah Palin 13/10/12(Sat)07:37 No. 14812

Mine is a $30 maserin poker. It gets the job done and I love the ergonomics. 440c steel is perhaps the best edc steel out there with superior performance to aus8 and better rust resistance.

I know it is a devisive issue but I have never been sold on the opinel knives. People love them or hate them. Its just pain carbon steel and the lock mechanism fails after a few months of heavy use. Aside from that it is bulky.
