Low-key smart glasses with GPS? Anonymous 23/02/12(Sun)15:10 No. 18484 ID: aae5a9 [Reply]

Hi /sci/!

I’m looking for a pair of smart glasses that looks like normal glasses to use with contacts. (Pic is how I want to feel using them, not what too look like.) I want to enter a bunch of waypoints into a GPS and then have the glasses plot them out for me.

I’m looking for a system that can be used without any ”smart” phone at all. I want the whole thing to be totally offline. The only thing I want to receive is GPS data & send nothing out.

Yes. Airplane mode just changes the default operation so that radios are not used, until you turn them on explicitly. You can be in airplane mode with wifi and GPS, for example. But if you just want to purely receive GPS, you could run the phone without a SIM card and without wifi or bluetooth.

Thanks!

So if I want to go "off grid" and not fuck around with a custom Raspberry Pi, I should get a "burner phone", no? :-)

More evidence connecting Timaz to Sexy Cyborg Naomi Wu. This pair is using her "fame" to rip people off. They hide behind their army of White Knights and SJW feminists when anyone critiques her bullshit backstory and cry sexism instead of addressing the points made. Now they are trying to ruin people's careers. They are scumbags and the truth needs to be shared.

At the same pitch? I'm trying to create a piece of music from an advert since I cannot seem to pay anyone enough to recreate it as they fear copyright backlash as a piece of production music.

The original track uses several synthetic guitars

This is my reasonable attempt :

I'm an expert at the piano but unfortunately don't really know much about guitars and that's why despite me playing the same notes at the same pitch, it sounds almost entirely different.

It's not possible to explain it in analogy to sine waves, because instruments are not sine wave generators. If instruments were capable of producing perfect sine waves at consistent phases, frequencies, and amplitudes then yes, they would all sound the same.

Comparing an electric guitar to a piano:
1. Plucking a string causes it to vibrate differently vs. striking it. For a given pitch, this generates differently shaped "main waves", which itself gives the sound different harmonics. Compare the sound of a piano to that of a harpsichord. The harpsichord has more harmonics.
2. The guitar doesn't have a resonance chamber, nor do its strings vibrate the air directly. Instead it uses electromagnets to measure the distance of a piece of metal several thousand times per second. Because the strings vibrate perpendicularly to the pickups, this adds a non-linear distortion to the wave, which adds harmonics.
3. Certain maneuvers are possible in a guitar but impossible in a piano. For example, a piano is not capable of doing a proper glissando, because it can only produce notes at discrete ranges. A guitar is also able to do tremolo, which I think it's impossible with a piano.
4. Finally, different mechanisms of producing sound cause the attack, decay, sustain, and release phases to have different lengths, which also affects the "feel" of the sound.

i think some of your later notes are off
also it will sound slightly different if it's in the context of a chord or if there are other parts playing
i think i phrased that wrong
a phrase will sound different in terms of "mood" or "tone" (not tone as in timbre, etc) if it has accompanying notes
i think i phrased that wrong again
whatever
Also yes the timbre of an instrument and the harmonics/partials will effect how it is perceived
but
it probably shouldn't be so different that it sounds so wrong
try a different register, play higher
check your notes again

I'm hoping to return to college and do a second degree in math/a math related subject (ideally Computer Science). Unfortunately, I haven't done math in well over a decade, and when I did math previously it wasn't exactly the highest level math.

Can anyone recommend how I can best learn/re-learn/catch up to college level math and be ready and prepared?

So please explain how arithmetic helps you solve quadratic equations, or systems of linear equations.
Like, if I need to find the exact roots of f(x) = -sqrt(pi) * x^2 + e*x + 10, how does it help me to know how run a multiplication algorithm by hand?

http://livingstingy.blogspot.com/2022/12/ford-mustang-mach-e.html?m=1

I had a chance to see a Ford Mustang Mach-E up close today and speak with the owner. He bought a basic model for about $42,000 sticker, with a 250-mile range (a little light - 300 seems to be the "go to" number these days). But it was interesting to see.

Even as a base model it had a nicely stitched leather interior. And all the door and body panels fit properly and evenly. No trim pieces were falling off or loose. It had the build quality of a typical Ford - perhaps slightly better - and that is not a bad thing. Ford has made millions - billions - of cars since 1908. They seem to have it figured out.

It is about the same size and shape as the Tesla Model Y, which unlike the Model-X, ditched the troublesome and pointless "gull wing" doors. Given the bad press about those doors, I think they are not a selling point, but detract from the value of the Model-X. The big difference is in price - the Tesla Model Y is nearly 50% ($20K) higher in price - and there is a substantial waiting list to get one, too. The model X is more than double the price of a Mach-E.

If you need service for your car, well there is a Ford dealer in nearly every town in America. Granted, not all may have qualified mechanics (yet) to work on the electronics, but everyday items, such as body, trim, brakes, and whatnot, can be repaired at the dealer. Tesla? The repair centers are few and far between, and the wait times for parts and the difficulty of repair are legendary.

And this is just one product from one manufacturer. What will the EV market be like in 2023 and beyond, as nearly every automaker on the planet offers a line of EV models? Tesla has made big noises about its poorly designed (and embarrassingly named) "cyber-truck" which, like the Elio, is slated for production "next year" (every year). Meanwhile, Ford and Chevrolet are actually selling EV pickups, without fanfare or noise or hyping their stock price on Twitter. And despite the FUD, they probably will sell well for a niche market of users.

Tesla's P/E ratio is down from a staggering 1000 thanks to the collapse in share prices (investors are seeing the writing on the wall) to a still staggering 45 or so. 20 is a more rational target - either Tesla has to double profits or the share price has to drop by half to be rational, particularly in an era where Savings Bonds (Series I) are paying 6% or more for chrissakes. Ford's P/E ratio is down to less than 8, which means Ford is earning a staggering 12.5% on investment, and paying dividends to boot! The latter is something Tesla never has done and promises never to do.

A Typical Elon Musk Day...but it could take place at another tech company.
THE TESLA >> GOOD MORNING E-MAIL THREAD:

Telsa Software Developer: Good morning team, Elon did not like that it took his model S 17 minutes to get to the car factory from his house last month. So I built him a rocket ship. It takes 10 minutes off his commute and only burns $100,000 of fuel each way. Operations, we need a voice activated rocket landing pad on the factory's roof quickly as this is an expensive project.

Telsa Operations Manager: Hello sir, this is the first I heard of this, I just spoke to my engineers, and if you land that massive rocket on the roof, they are 100% certain the entire building will collapse, killing us all. Have a great day.

Telsa Architecture Manager: Team, we architected that elevated personal super highway for Elon last month it cost 90 billion, but I will see what else we can do. We do need a few months to think about rocket landing pads before designing the most elegant thing possible otherwise it will be too easy to implement, and we can't have that.

Telsa DevOps: We have an AI electric helicopter for Elon, it will take 5 minutes off his commute and does not use any fuel as it runs on solar power. We told quality control to look at the windshield, and it is bug-free literally. Give us 2 years and we can take another minute off of his commute by tweaking the helicopter pipeline.

Telsa UX: Sorry, DevOps, behavioral science tells us Elon likes rockets because of the little red on one on his childhood lunch box.

Data Science/AI Manager: Team, our predictive models show, If the rocket lands on the roof, it will take ~5 seconds, not 6 seconds, for the building to collapse and burst into a giant ball of fire. We are 99.3347534% sure of that, accounting for wind speed and 10,000 other variables. My PHD's do worry about sample size in our AI algorithms (Ivy league Doctorates worry about everything) ... so they are asking a few rich princes they met on the dark web to donate their spare space rockets for experiments. All we have to do is send each prince $100 dollars for rocket shipping and we can improve our machine learning by a factor of 6.43.
