Dear fellow Johns, maybe it’s just me, but have you noticed that people seem to have contempt/fear/hatred for basic leisure/comfort?

Everything always has to be about “overcoming challenges” or “changing the world” or “stepping outside your comfort zone”.

They especially target young men minding their own business enjoying solitary leisure in video games or art.
Society is always trying to force them to be some sort of glorified “civil servant” to prove their manhood.

No one is really allowed to simply just not care about the farce of spectacle.

Being /eh/ is treated as a sign of weakness or regression especially for young men.

I think it’s just subconscious misery wanting company or that people are too shallow/weak minded to enjoy their own solace.

I don't know John, I love playing video games as much as the next John but my greatest memories have come from stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing fun things like traveling or going outside. I think there's something to be said for conventional wisdom.

Notice that I also said art? Not just video games? Also, “stepping outside your comfort zone” is a common boomer platitude uttered by semi-bohemian folk or pension-funded retirees.
Also, traveling is kinda overrated for “expanding your mind”.
Also, going outside isn’t the same as socializing.
Tbh, socialization is kinda overrated.
