So what browser do you guys use to play swf files?

Chrome no longer plays swf files and tries to download them instead.

I had the exact same problem using Firefox. Turns out an update for Firefox (version 55 and later) disabled all flash from running unless it's retrieved from HTTP or HTTPS.

The solution for Firefox is to go into about:config and change plugins.http_https_only to false.

I imagine there is a similar fix for Chrome, but I haven't looked for it myself. Good luck.

You have to allow sites to run flash

If you want to play Flash outside a browser you could try downloading the standalone Flash executable. Its updated at the same time the rest of Flash is, but finding it is sometimes a pain... just look for an executable on their FTP whose name ends in "sa" and that should be it.

It's kind of a crapshoot, and it seems to just ignore you completely in private, chrome has had a serious case of the devs going "my way or the highway" for a while now, similar situation with not being able to turn off suggestions in the address bar (i.e. you have to present in a meeting, punch in "e" and get exhentai links popping, official dev response was "just don't have favorites lol"), seems better just to ditch it
anyway to answer OP I've been trying palemoon, decent fork of firefox, seems to work for swf just fine

for me, only chrome without icognito mod opens flashes. Opera, Firefox, Tor just downloads it.

The "Flash Player Projector" link will always point to the current version of the standalone player.

Flash is going hit EOL in, what, a year? Two? It was great when it started but now its a bloated unwieldy mess.

Kind of like Chrome.
