2004 was the year that Static Shock (an American superhero animated television series based on the Milestone Media/DC Comics superhero Static) came to an end.

The FIRST time that an African-American superhero was the titular character of their own broadcast animation series.

20 years later...STILL no animation series giving such a character the spotlight.

Blue Marvel was a popular superhero in the early 1960's until the country discovered he was a black man. The racial climate of the time led Adam Brashear to retire from being a superhero.
