The Zombie Survival Guide
There may or may not have been a thread about this, but I am asking anyway.
How accurate (this might be) is "The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection From The Living Dead" if it might be used in an apocalyptic setting, including those it was ment for.
I own this book, I re-read it sometimes, and I can see some of this accurately working, but I want your opinions as well.
I've also read "World War Z" (Written by the same author) and it also seems p

Zombies General
If, say, an epidemic which turns people into rabid cannibals really does spread, how prepared are you right now? Not just physically, but mentally. Do you have any sort of a game plan?
Discussions about any other post-apocalyptic scenarios should be encouraged, too, I think. So what're you looking like? How long will you last on food, will you flee or hold up in your home? Are you able and mentally ready to defend yourself to the death while being smart about biohazards? Biological wa

So, /zom/, do you guys have any plans on rebuilding civilization after the zompocalypse?
I always fantasize about having a little community with it's own little militia and having farmers feed our population by farming on the outskirts of town.
And what would be the best way to clear out a, let's say, 25,000 population town of zombies to make it safe? Fortifying it? Protecting from siege and raiders?
Also, kind of straying away from zombies here but, do you think we

I need help with my plan. I would stock up on food and all those goodies, get my water from the English rain, ect. I would use cinder blocks and cement to block the stairs but my problem is electricity. I think the best plan is solar panels, wind turbines and a stationary bicycle connected to a motor, but how do I get electricity to come out of a battery (the big ones, not AAs or any of that) and into mains plug that would go in my xbox.

Growing up on an Iowan farm, I know how to both hunt and grow plants (this will come into play later).
A buddy and I were dicking around on the computers at school during our yearbook class, since we filled our quota of pages that day, and found this island in canada. Since we were talking about zombies, we bot knew that this was a perfect place to go to in case of zombie outbreak. We figured since the lake(?) is about 2 miles wide at it's least wide part, we'd be relatively safe

Raid Gear
Eventually (hopefully) you're going set up an HQ, whether it be a fortified building, large boat, or mobile convoy. At that point you won't need to lug around every last bit of that survival gear around on your back. Trips into the wasteland should have a purpose: recon, surveillance, resource assessment and procurement, security detail, etc...You can tweak your gear for the task at hand without bogging yourself down with an entire camp's worth of gear. Combat and mobility are gen

How to train your...
Back in the day, perhaps even before /zom/ existed, some guy on /b/ published a really bizarre piece of work titled "How to Train Your Zombitch". Now, I'm not entirely sure that the name I'm listing is 100% accurate, but it was a totally zany postapocalyptic guide detailing the process of catching one's human-sized fleshlight, tarting her up and... well, using her for stress relief. Why am I bringing all of this up? TBH, my hard drive crashed and burned, so I'm look

Pokemon World Zombies
The Pokémon World Zombies are undead beings that were once humans or Pokémon infected with a highly contagious virus that turns them into zombies. They are characterized by their pale, decaying skin, cloudy eyes, and erratic and aggressive behavior.
One of the unique aspects of the Pokémon World Zombies is that they are not limited to just humans, but can also infect and zombify Pokémon. Once a Pokémon is infected, they become aggressive and will attack any non-infected beings they come ac

Hey /zom/, so about half a year ago I posted about this game here.
http://www.hellrising.com/index.php
Its a browser based survival game where you get to play one of three races during the apocalypse, those being that of humans, vampires or zombies.
As a human you have to try to survive, generally by searching for items that will be of use to you, teaming up with other humans and annihalating the undead.
And as zombies and vampire's its your job to attempt to kill o

I've had some disagreements with my bro, whether a plague, that would cause people to die, and reanimate after, is even possible. I imagine it being a bacteria, that devours brain cells, that makes a person a homo sapiens, and leaves only basic animal instinct to eat. Furthermore, the spread of sickness is in question, could it really take over whole world, or even continent, in matter of weeks or so?
I'm not saying anyones wrong, I just want opinions.

Which celebrity or famous figure (living or dead) would you choose as your sidekick, and why? Myself, Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt because he was pretty much a living Chuck Norris joke. An experienced soldier, he and his regiment the "Rough Riders" won critical battles during the Spanish-American war which led to a U.S. victory. As commissioner of the NYPD, instead of sitting in his cushy office all day, he would go undercover and root out deceit and corruption in his police fo

Hypothetical - Smart Zombies
Most scenarios only deal with stupid zombies. Let's up the difficulty. What would you do in an outbreak of clever zombies?
By clever, I mean average person clever: smart enough to unlock doors, operate firearms, devise ambushes and formulate plans. Yet also overwhelmingly determined to eat your brains at the first opportunity. In otherwords, we're dealing with zombies with all the benefits of both humans and zombies, and none of the downsides.

How would you approach surviving?
1. Finding a safe/secure place that keeps zeds out and is hidden from other human survivors
2. Search for food/water. If you live in a suburban area, just break into houses and prioritize canned food and bottled water.
3. Stock up on bartering items. Usually, these are consumables, like alcohol, medication, coffee, gasoline, ammunition, and to some extent, clothing and shoes.
4. Make plans to travel to the Hoover Dam. This place is probably the most study man made structure t

Zombie Fiction?
Sup /zom/, simple question: what are some good zombie books to read?
I lik the Day by Day Armageddon series for what it was, even if the third book was a little phoned in. There's also the Plague of the Dead, I've only read the first book, but I liked it a little more.
So, has anyone got any good zombie books to add? Oh, besides WWZ.

I finally got an opportunity to watch WWZ last night, and, yes, I was disappointed. Anybody else feel that the movie was a wasted opportunity to tell a great story, bore remarkably little resemblance to the superb novel, and spent far, FAR too much time delving into the angst and showcasing the nobility of Brad Pitt's boringly conventional, formulaic character?
