Actually, The Marines do NOT have their own medical unit nor get trained for such an event. Their medics come from the NAVY in the form of Hospital Corpsmen. So Marines alone wouldn't cut it.

Experience: Former Hospital Corpsman - US Navy

I vote for the knights cause they can slash the fucking throat outta of the zombies.

They are knights and will act reasonable while us marines dont possess the capability of fuck off.

US marines are just marines. Smoke some joints, get high and do the poppa poppa pop.

So after not playing this game or coming here for 5 years, I decided to go log back in and go back to our mansion, there are a bunch of squatters in here.

This is a serious problem.

Update for anyone who checks this abysmally slow board. I just started playing the game, and while I can imagine it's not as busy as it was in it's heyday, it's far from dead. Military reports are still being updated, people and zombies are still out in force. I had to evacuate the area I started in because a horde rolled in.

That's shocking. I honestly don't see the point, like, at all, considering you max out at level 40, and there's no endgame content. At least in Nexus Clash you have the faction warfare between guilds, with capture the flag, which results in "Renown" that you can spend upgrading your faction's stronghold. Urban Dead is just a never ending cycle of eating people, looking for bullets, shooting zombies, getting eaten, coming back to the human side, looking for bullets, shooting zombies, getting eaten.

It's honestly really sad to see because this game, back in it's heyday, was fucking huge. But, seeing as you're a first time player, apparently, I should point out Urban Dead used to have a graphics mod for Firefox, which added art to the tiles, inventory etc. It really, truly made the game so much more playable. Pic related

It's also a shame Nexus War closed down. That game was the shit, the pinnacle of Action Point, browser based gaming. Had a Java client that would auto-update player movement on the maps, you didn't have to refresh the page constantly etc.

The Alpha test of the newest Nexus Clash certainly reminds me of it, but at the moment it's quite incomplete. You can check it out yourself at https://alpha.nexuscla.sh/

That's what Nexus War used to be like. Only less buggy. I look forward to seeing it finished and released, assuming bob gets off his ass and works on the god damn game.

There was a pretty epic story here that was posted some 7 or 8 years ago that featured 28days later type zombies but also... well raped their victims as well. I was wondering if anyone knows where that story is. It keeps... haunting me.

Some very overlooked tools I have. I think a decent amount of practice spent rake picking goes a long way. I'm not a locksmith but having the option to quietly get into locks is essential. I prefer gerbers to leatherman for price reasons. Still a great tool

Lets play a game.
We all go onto http://innawoods.net/ and show our zombie survival gear!

I'll start!

I'd be at around 235 LB with all of this gear on me, but i wouldn't move too much. I would want to be hidden. Notice no thermal, because zombies are dead. Not alive. I went for the stealth set up, and the set up where i could just keep to my self. I switched out matches for a zippo because of possible rain. My armor is also to protect from me being seen. Why would you walk around in full riot gear in a zombie invasion? You have to take in the face there are other people, some trying to kill you.

Hey guys, greetings from Germany. I´ve fairly little experience in this, so I´´ll try to explain my choices.

Lots of durable foods. Water shouldn´t be a problem.

Short weapon is 9mm, because I expect this type of ammo to be more often available than more exotic types.

I guess 21 kilos is guite a load to wear... so no armor of course which might slow you down.

Night vision sounds kind of futuristic, but with electricity down and dark nights, this might come in handy.

Rifle is supposed to be sturdy, well stocked in terms of ammo.

Besides that: camouflage! All clothing is supposed to be difficult to spot in local fauna.
Message too long. Click here to view the full text.

UK (Wales) reporting in. First time postan:

First thing I'd do is raid the local shooting school for a shotgun (the choke is a very long shot but would be very handy imo). Along with that I'd try and obtain the riot armour from a local police force. I could barter for it if needed.

I chose two types of ammo because I have a feeling slug rounds will be easier to obtain from the shooting school and also be useful in looting locked buildings.

Most of the survival/hygene gear I already own, getting hold of the iodine from a school and the med bag from the local Boots. Map would change depending on where I headed (whether alone or in a group.)

The boiler suit is just a place-holder - on the one hand it would be practical and easy enough to take care of, but really I'd probably just have a cozy jumper and some worn in jeans. The storm cloak, hat, boots and kefyeh would come from a milsurp store in the neighbouring city. The facemask and goggles I own, they're really for dealing with hordes to protect from blood spray etc.

Honestly the only problem is a watch. I'd be using my phone for as long as there were car batteries or any sort of other power around, but after that I'd find a decent one on a zombie or a corpse, since fuck going into the city center to a shop.

Un-shown here is a fucktonne of batteries and a multimeter. The meter would help with various things such as testing buildings for power, setting electric traps and sorting out the whole car battery for power thing. You can use a pencil as a resistor to make it into a near standard current (will find tutorial if anyone wants it.)

Purifier perk: "As a purifier of the wasteland, you do +50% damage with melee and unarmed weapons against abominations."

In the zombie media I've seen I've never seen some guy just wiping out Zs berserker style. My frustration in a wasteland world and drive to have some legacy would mean my noblest pursuit would be killing every zombie on the planet. Half the time characters just ignore Zs so they become problems later, I wouldn't leave the job half-baked.

What would be your purpose for living post Z-day?
I'd be the cleanser of the Z-scourge.

I'd try to round my niggas from a certain underground circle and begin a new civilization centralized in natural leadership with urban applied sociology instead of politics and marketing. From there recruit those who are deemed good and loyal enough.

I'd become something like a philosopher king of the wastes, however, instead of sitting on my comfy ass fort like a dorf, I'd create several trap filled forts in secret or hard to find locations. Tunnels, roads and passages would be controlled by me. I'd put spies on every faction I could, and direct those that are too dangerous towards their doom.

If I succeed in this endeavor, my first overt move will be to eliminate all the rider gangs in an area the size of California in three days.

And call me Santa because if you have been good boys and girls someone may drop a cache of raider contraptions and weapons at your doorstep.

Clearing out an area the size of California in 3 days of all gangs etc.? California itself is larger than some nations, has absolutely massive urban concentrations in certain parts, tons of wilderness and places to hide, etc. etc.

Sorry to break it to you, but if the US military was at full strength during a full blown zombie apocalypse, there's no way even they could clear an area the size of california in three days.

You could maybe do it if the whole area was deserts or plains, with few cities or towns.

Most scenarios only deal with stupid zombies. Let's up the difficulty. What would you do in an outbreak of clever zombies?

By clever, I mean average person clever: smart enough to unlock doors, operate firearms, devise ambushes and formulate plans. Yet also overwhelmingly determined to eat your brains at the first opportunity. In otherwords, we're dealing with zombies with all the benefits of both humans and zombies, and none of the downsides.

First off if this sergeantbrucewillis guy holds no military awards or honors I take it as an insult you try and use that handle, your tone is arrogant and silly in a place like this,BOY! second you kids need to look beyond the hipster crap of these zombies today and look to the fathers, zombies have the numbers always the idea, third i fall in the school of ROTLD where zombies being dead feel constant pain and only eating brains helps quell that pain.I realize this is just fapping to a world none of you could handle, like learning karate and expecting to use it a street fight! sure we can sit here all day, dicks in our hands but until shit goes down all the fluff you tactical ideals mean diddly...

If they truly have as much ingenuity as humans I think it might be the end of the race.

Eventually (hopefully) you're going set up an HQ, whether it be a fortified building, large boat, or mobile convoy. At that point you won't need to lug around every last bit of that survival gear around on your back. Trips into the wasteland should have a purpose: recon, surveillance, resource assessment and procurement, security detail, etc...You can tweak your gear for the task at hand without bogging yourself down with an entire camp's worth of gear. Combat and mobility are generally you're priority, but you also need some spare room to pick stuff up you scavenge. We call this Raid Gear.

So let's see your Raid Gear zombros.
