Is it Legal to Shoot Someone with Ebola?

Would a Shotgun be preferred over, say, a chainsaw or hedge-trimmer?

What chapters/sections would you like to see in a zombie survival guide?

I think more focus on social/psych would be neato.

I am about 211 pages into my complete zombie survival guide and I'm hoping to publish it mid next year and it puts max Brooks guide to shame, but I do need more focus on social and psychological well being, thx for the suggestion.

Are you going to sell it online? If so, where, and what would be the name of your guide?

I've had some disagreements with my bro, whether a plague, that would cause people to die, and reanimate after, is even possible. I imagine it being a bacteria, that devours brain cells, that makes a person a homo sapiens, and leaves only basic animal instinct to eat. Furthermore, the spread of sickness is in question, could it really take over whole world, or even continent, in matter of weeks or so?
I'm not saying anyones wrong, I just want opinions.

>whether a plague, that would cause people to die, and reanimate after, is even possible.
No. However, viruses like rabies infect the brain in such a so a victims 'personality' is gone but the body is still alive.
>I imagine it being a bacteria, that devours brain cells, that makes a person a homo sapiens, and leaves only basic animal instinct to eat.
Basically, rabies...
>Furthermore, the spread of sickness is in question, could it really take over whole world, or even continent, in matter of weeks or so?
A continent in weeks, absolutely. Unless we already have a vaccine, and enough of it. The world in weeks, probably not, it would have to be extremely contagious with a fairly low mortality rate.
>>5028
>What if some weird ass once in a million years global happening, like solar flare radiation or whatever, would activate otherwise not active germ, that has only developed in all living things over past few decades?
If there was, say, a man-made virus, with basically no symptoms, it could be spread very quickly, since no one knows they're infected. If then some 'switch' was flipped, and the infected all suddenly turned 'zombie', there would be streets full of zombies almost instantly. Of course, this would pretty much have to be a man-made, programmable, nano-virus, and that kind of tech is still pretty far off.
>>5029
> Main difference would be that although they might not feel pain, blood loss, trauma to the heart or lungs and other wounds would still result in death and the "zombies" would need to eat, drink and breath in order to keep going.
True. The only exception to this would be the 'Act-of-God' type zombies, actual risen dead. With any type of infection, the 'zombies' still have to follow intake food, water and oxygen. I didn't say 'eat, drink and breath' there because not everything 'eats' and 'drinks' in the way we think of it. Wild cats, for instance, get almost all of their water from their prey.

Alrght, honestly I think the only true possible cause that could happen, is fungus. I'm talking about the kind of fungus that takes over insect's bodies, mind controls them, then grows inside out from them, ala The Last of Us style.

Very unlikely scenario, I know, but still. What I had in mind, was rather reanimation pathogen, which would be activated by global event. That way, several days old corpses would rise from the grave. Dead people are everywhere, and if not killed by one, people still die every day. Accidents happen, and it is probably impossible to stop such a boulder in motion in, lets say, center of Mumbai. Apocalypse would start instantly, everywhere where human deaths are out of hand. Hell, you could even hear undead pounding coffin walls from 6 feet under on a good Sunday evening.

File 136906836998.jpg - (46.15KB , 650x366 , 169848-bp-offshore-oil-rig.jpg )

dude, fucking oil rigs! they are completely isolated from shore and tower far above the waterline. even a bloated, floating zombie could never climb aboard. you would virtually never have to worry about security as long as you triple check the entire rig beforehand for zombies. Its a fucking floating fortress. the only thing you have to worry about would be survival.

they have their own living and medical facilities and many are stocked with up to 6 months food for an entire crew. Even if the food depletes, you can always go fishing. And unless the rig is extremely close to land, there is no danger of industrial pollution in the water from abandoned factories. they have their own distilleries, so fresh water will never be a problem. Since all are equipped to mine either oil or natural gas, power will be unlimited. Even if you don’t know how to operate the rig, there will surely be some storage tank you can generate power from. If not, maybe Wind or tidal powered dynamos could be introduced as a substitute.

The only thing i can think of that would be a downfall would be the maintenance. Corrosion will be the number one enemy, eventually winning out against all preventative measures. Some things could be maintained, but sensitive electronic gear, however, such as computers, radios, and medical machinery, will eventually go and will be the hardest to replace. Eventually, the entire complex will deteriorate to a rusty piece of shit in the middle of the ocean.

Unlike prisons and military bases, offshore oil rigs will be the first places abandoned. Within the first few days of an outbreak, workers will no doubt demand to get to their families, leaving the rig without a trained staff. If none of your group knows how to operate the machinery, learning might be difficult. Industrial accidents, explosions of stored oil and gas, may result from people operating the rig with no fucking clue what they are doing. And in the middle of the ocean, that’d be pretty bad. Probably the safest way to go would be just to shut down the drill and not try to operate anything.

Now all i need is a boat

I'm all for living on one but treat it as a structure and not a facility. Do not attempt to operate anything.

At least someone has got it figured out. Seriously. The bigger and shinier it is, the worse someone else wants it for themselves. Like, there's thousands of brick fucking houses at any given location, and hundreds of thousands of pool tables across the world, everyone deserves at least one set of basement and a pool table, if they survive... Think people, think.

I hope you have a secure bug out destination in mind and keep enough fuel to get there in your vehicle at all times because there is no way you are getting enough gas to feed that fuel guzzling monster for long after z-day.

Also hope that you dont find the need to ever leave your location.

a] zombies are basically the people around you (office co-workers, students, convenience-store customers) who have been infected with a strange disease that disables intelligence and creates a ravening hunger for BRAINS!!!
b] solution - infect everyone you know with ketamine (water cooler route, air-freshener aerosol dispenser, use your imagination)
c] do NOT wait for the symptoms to wear off - get started!

I'm from Australia. Since there are no military grade weapons, equipment and logistics like in the USA lying around, I think the Army reserves will just take care of everything. I can't do shit by comparison.

The Army will probably end up trying to contain the spread of zombies by wiping out the civilian population. Depending on the type of zombie infestation they face, this may backfire horribly and they may find themselves overwhelmed and then realize that they are the zombies.

You don't really need military grade weapons to survive a zombie apocalypse; and you might even be able to pull a few good weapons off dead/zombified soldiers once the chaos begins but ammunition is going to become a finite resource and eventually the only usable weapons will be of the sharp or bludgeoning kind.

There you go, using logic again. This is a national government we're talking about, here; expecting logic from government is like expecting ethical morality from a serial-killer.
